AHSA Families,
We are sending this message out to let all member families know the current status of AHSA activities.
We have been following our leagues’ discussions and were hoping to have better news regarding opportunity to compete this fall. However, as of right now all fall sports related activities are cancelled. APIAL and ACSL are not having any competitions of any kind. The latest word from each league is that they hope to start sports after the new year. Given the recent rise in COVID 19 cases statewide, and not knowing what the next month or two will look like, any sports activities this school year 2020-2021 seems to be in jeopardy. We have a few meetings coming up with APIAL, our mid-school league, regarding possible competition for next semester. Kevin Bundy from ACSL will keep us up to date with competition for the high school level.
Once we have been given the ok to start competition in our leagues, we face the challenge of gym space. As of right now none of the gyms we utilize are able to give us a time frame as to when we can start using those facilities. Due to this gym constraint we may have to come up with alternative options if/when competition begins next year in either league. Once we know when competition can begin, we will update our website and send an email to all member families. We wish we knew which sports will be offered but at this time it is up to each league to decide. Once things start back up we may have a crowded schedule (and gyms) as the leagues try to fit everything in a compressed window.
