Statement of Faith

This statement of religious beliefs serves as the doctrinal foundation for AHSA. Board members, sustaining members, sports directors, and coaches are required to subscribe to this statement. Athletes and families are not required to subscribe to the Statement of Faith, but are required to respect it and not to undermine it in any way.
1. We believe the Bible to have plenary inspiration, and be the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God. It is without error or mistake.
2. We believe there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
3. We believe in the deity of Christ; His virgin birth; His sinless life; His miracles; His atoning death in our place; His resurrection; His ascension to the right hand of the Father where He rules over His Kingdom; and His personal return in power and glory.
4. We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the inherited sinful state of the human race through Adam’s sin; and that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ and that only by God’s grace and through faith alone we are saved.
5. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
6. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
7. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit who dwells within the believer and enables him and sanctifies him to pursue a godly life in obedience to all Christ’s commands.
8. We believe that marriage is the uniting of one biological male and one biological female in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God’s unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church, and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, the exclusive channel for sexual expression according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race.
9. We believe God created humans male and female by design. We believe that any conduct with the intent to identify as a gender other than one's biological sex is contrary to God's design.
10. We believe that all people are created in the image of God and therefore have intrinsic worth from the moment of conception and should be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behaviors or attitudes directed toward any individual are not acceptable and are not in accord with scripture.
